The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council or AHSEC declared the results for the Class 12 examinations on May 9, marking a significant moment for students Statewide. This year, with the implementation of the New Education Policy or NEP, notable changes were witnessed, including the discontinuation of individual topper announcements.
In the Science stream, a total of 54,460 students appeared for the exams, achieving commendable success. Among them, 23,552 students secured first division, showcasing exceptional academic prowess. Additionally, 17,339 students attained second division, while 8,062 students accomplished third division honours, illustrating a diverse spectrum of achievement levels within the cohort.
Likewise, in the Arts stream, an overwhelming pass rate of 97.44 per cent was recorded, highlighting the dedication and diligence of students across various districts. Baksa district emerged as a frontrunner, boasting an impressive pass rate of 97.44 per cent. Meanwhile, in the Science stream, Tamulpur district outshone others with a remarkable pass rate of 97.98 per cent, contributing significantly to the State’s overall pass rate of 89.88 per cent in this stream. Additionally, Sivasagar district reaffirmed its academic excellence in the Commerce stream, securing a leading pass rate of 97.42 per cent.
The sheer magnitude of student participation in the AHSEC 12th Exams this year was visible, with a staggering 2,80,216 students participating in the examinations. Among them, 1,39,486 were boys and 1,42,732 were girls, displaying a balanced representation across genders in the pursuit of academic excellence.
Delving deeper into the subject-specific statistics, it was revealed that a total of 2,01,089 candidates appeared for the exams from the Arts stream. Among them, 40,499 students distinguished themselves with first division honours, while 65,532 students achieved second division and 72,775 students secured third division.
In the Commerce stream, 17,307 candidates participated in the Class 12 examinations. Of these, 5,915 students excelled with first division honours, 6,087 students attained second division, and 3,194 students demonstrated their competence with third division accolades.

In a heartening display of encouragement and support, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma extended warm congratulations to the students, who successfully passed their Higher Secondary exam this year.
Taking to X, CM HImanta conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the successful students, expressing optimism for their future endeavours.
“Congratulations to all my young friends who have passed the Higher Secondary examination this year. Keep striving for excellence in the coming years. For all those who couldn’t achieve the desired results, don’t be disheartened. Embrace determination, challenge your limits – you shall succeed.”
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu too took to X and expressed, “Congratulations! 88.64 per cent students have passed. Arts (88.24 per cent) Science (90.29 per cent) Commerce (88.28 per cent) and Voc (85.78 per cent). As many as 2,73,908 students had appeared the exam; 2,42,794 students have passed. In 2023, results were declared on 6 June. I appreciate AHSEC for the results on time.”
