Tripura is set to revolutionise its education sector with the introduction of an e-attendance system for teachers across all government schools, announced a senior official on Thursday.
The initiative aims to enhance transparency in teachers’ attendance records, stated Officer on Special Duty or OSD for School Education, Abhijit Samajpati. “The State Government has already introduced an e-attendance system in some offices, including the civil secretariat. Now, it will be implemented in schools,” explained Samajpati.
He further elaborated that the e-attendance system will be gradually extended to students in government schools, following six months after its implementation for teachers.
Training sessions to familiarise teachers with the e-attendance system have commenced, Samajpati informed. “Once it is successfully implemented for teachers and students, we will add the provision for geo-tagging, too… The entire system will be digitised,” he added.
According to official data, Tripura’s 2,640 government schools are supported by 25,064 teachers, catering to a student population of 4,76,609. With the adoption of the e-attendance system, Tripura attempts to modernise its education infrastructure and ensure accountability in teacher attendance, creating environment conducive for students to learn.
