Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma made bold promises during a poll rally in Malkangiri’s Kalimela, located at the southernmost tip of Odisha, asserting that if the BJP assumes power in the State, it will prioritise job creation for the youth.
In a critique of the incumbent Biju Janata Dal or BJD Government led by Naveen Patnaik, the Assam counterpart highlighted the prolonged period of misrule experienced by the people of Odisha. He positioned the BJP as the harbinger of comprehensive development for the State, promising transformative changes.
“An entire generation of voters in Odisha has only seen BJD’s misrule. A vote for the BJP will ensure holistic development for the State,” asserted Himanta Biswa Sarma, rallying support for the BJP’s vision of progress and prosperity in Odisha.
“PM Modi giving people free rice. CM Patnaik gives nothing to the people of Odisha. Whatever he gives, he only gives to Pandian (5T Chairman VK Pandian and CM’s second in command)… because there is lack of willpower,” he said on a lighter note.

With Kalimela area being home to rehabilitated Bengali-speaking refugees from erstwhile East Pakistan, he said if the BJP Government comes to power, it will carry out recruitment of Bengali language teachers in places having Bengali-speaking people.
He further forecasted the downfall of the 24-year-old BJD Government and double engine governance in the State and Centre.
“There is no more possibility of a BJD Government in Odisha. Both in Delhi and in Bhubaneswar, the BJP will come to power and people will reap the benefits of Modi’s guarantee,” he said.
Taking a jibe at his Odisha counterpart Naveen for his government’s alleged failures, the Assam CM assured that all the villages in the district will be made revenue villages.
“Odisha CM Naveen speaks nothing more than ‘okay’. Whenever he is asked something, he says ‘okay, okay’. Once the BJP forms government in Odisha, all the villages in Malkangiri will be made revenue villages. Some villages in the district are still identified in numbers. It should have been changed long ago. It will be executed soon after BJP comes to power,” assured Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Assam CM additionally mentioned women in Odisha will get a cash voucher of Rs 50,000 which they can withdraw in two years – Rs 25,000 per year. He assured that the BJP Government will purchase paddy from the farmers at Rs 3,100 per quintal.
“We will provide a cash voucher of Rs 50,000 to the women and they can withdraw Rs 25,000 each from the amount per year. Free rice is being given by PM Modi,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Hitting out at the Odisha Government over the rising unemployment in the State, Himanta Biswa Sarma said employment will be provided to as many as three lakh youths in the State if the BJP is voted to power. “Youths are unable to get jobs in Odisha and exam question papers are also getting leaked. If BJP forms government in the State, we will give jobs to three lakh youths on the basis of merit,” he added.
Mentioning that many people from Assam visits Puri for the darshan of Lord Jagannath, CM Himanta stated, “There are no proper facilities for such pilgrims whereas in Uttar Pradesh’s Kashi Vishwanath there are high level accommodations and other facilities. If BJP comes to power, it will set up same level of facilities akin to Kashi Vishwanath to maintain the pride of the State. Following this not only people from other States but locals of Odisha will be happy as well. Our life starts and ends with Lord Jagannath because we are Hindus.”
The Assam CM reiterated that President Droupadi Murmu is from Odisha. He urged all to vote for double engine government for the development of the State and make Bharat the Vishwa Guru. Himanta Biswa Sarma also invited the people to visit Ma Kamakhya Temple. He expressed gratitude to people for attending his rally in a rainy day.
