As the nation is celebrating Akshaya Tritiya on May 10, devout individuals followed sacred rituals, including the traditional dip in the river Ganga. In a unique tribute to this auspicious occasion, special attire was crafted for the idol of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. Notably, the attire was meticulously fashioned by designer Manish Tripathi, utilising Assam’s renowned Muga silk and Eri silk.
The creation of this distinctive garment demanded approximately 85 days of relentless effort and craftsmanship from Tripathi and his team. The fabric for Ram Lalla’s attire was graciously provided by ‘Golden Thread of Assam,’ a project initiated by Riniki Bhuyan, wife of Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Ram Lalla graced the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya adorned in attire crafted from Assam Silk, evoking a sense of pride across the State. Manish Tripathi expressed optimism that this gesture would elevate the recognition of Assam Silk on a national scale.
Expressing delight over the matter, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika expressed, “On Akshay Tritiya , Bhagwan Balak Ram has been dressed made up of Assam’s Muga and Eri Silk. Feeling blessed.”
