Taking proactive steps to address the grievances faced by displaced communities, the Manipur Government launched three pivotal programmes at the Manipur State Film Development Society. These initiatives are designed to provide employment opportunities to unemployed youth and deliver essential healthcare services to alleviate the psychological trauma resulting from recent upheavals.
Under the mentorship of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee, led by Justice Gita Mittal, the government introduced the following programmes:
Skill Training Program for Internally Displaced Youths: This initiative aims to provide comprehensive training to 2,000 internally displaced youths from relief camps across the State. Through this training, participants will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to secure employment in the hospitality industry, fostering their reintegration into stable livelihoods.
Youth Coach Level 1 Certificate Program: The government is launching a Coach Certification Programme in Sports, offering specialised training to 300 trainees recruited from numerous regions of the State. The initiative seeks to empower youths by harnessing their passion for sports, with a focus on football, table tennis, badminton, judo, and weightlifting.
Operationalisation of Primary Health Centre Borobekra (Jiribam) in Electronic Mode: Recognising the critical need for continued access to healthcare services, particularly in the wake of recent law and order challenges, the government is reactivating several affected health facilities through electronic modes. Apollo Hospital Enterprise Limited, Hyderabad, has been selected to oversee the reactivation of the Borobeka Primary Health Centre (PHC), ensuring residents have access to quality medical care through telemedicine services.
Justice Gita Mittal underlined the importance of these initiatives in addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by displaced communities. She highlighted the government’s commitment to providing comprehensive support, including skill development, healthcare, and sports empowerment, to facilitate their rehabilitation and well-being.
The launch event also included interactions with displaced people from Kangpokpi, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, and Kakching through virtual mode, highlighting the government’s dedication to inclusivity and community engagement in its initiatives.
