The Transport Department in Sikkim is gearing up to roll out an innovative Artificial Intelligence or AI driven Traffic Management System, scheduled to debut on May 25.
The new system, integrating cutting-edge AI algorithms, aims to revolutionise traffic management by automatically verifying essential documents such as Insurance, Tax, Fitness, Pollution Under Control or PUC, and Permit. Additionally, it will efficiently detect and penalise traffic violations including speeding, signal violations, and lane misuse, issuing e-challans in accordance with the CMV Act 1980.
Approved by the Competent Authority, this advanced system will be operational Statewide from May 25th, 2024, highlighting the importance for all vehicle owners, including government vehicles, to ensure their documents are kept up to date. Any concerns regarding e-challan issuances can be addressed to the respective SP or RTO of the district.
