Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma outlined the BJP’s ambitious plans, stating that the party aims to construct temples at the Krishna Janmabhoomi site in Mathura and at the location of the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi, contingent upon securing 400 seats in the Lok Sabha polls. He highlighted the precedent set by the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya when the BJP attained 300 seats.
“When the Congress Government was in power, we were told that one Kashmir is in Bharat and the other in Pakistan. It was never discussed in our Parliament that Pakistan has ‘Occupied Kashmir,’ it is actually ours. Right now, agitation is happening every day in PoK and people are protesting against Pakistan by holding the Indian Tricolour in their hands. If PM Narendra Modi gets 400 seats, then PoK will also become Bharat’s. It has already started,” mentioned Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Additionally, the Assam CM talked about the BJP’s commitment to strengthening reservations, highlighting “PM Modi comes from the OBC category. BJP has been in power for 10 years. Our government is working to give more strength to reservations. Congress wants to end SC, ST and OBC reservations and give reservations to Muslims which they have already started in Karnataka.”
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reiterated Bharat’s stance on PoK, mentioning that it has always been and will remain an integral part of the nation. The minister drew attention to the progress in Jammu and Kashmir, contrasting it with the unrest in PoK.
Recent incidents in PoK, including the unlawful deployment of Pakistan Paramilitary rangers resulting in casualties among protesters, have intensified tensions in the region. Locals have voiced grievances against taxes, subsidy cuts, and perceived inequalities in governance.
