Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma unveiled plans to introduce biometric enrolment for refugees during a meeting with officials from the Central Young Mizo Association or CYMA. The meeting tackled various pressing issues with a particular focus on the influx of refugees into Mizoram, notably from Myanmar.
CYMA officials voiced concerns about the escalating influx of refugees from Myanmar into Mizoram during the discussion. CM Lalduhoma reiterated his commitment to addressing this issue and revealed plans to implement a Biometric Enrolment Portal proposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Additionally, the meeting delved into the challenges posed by the violation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) law. Stressing the importance of better enforcement of ILP regulations, there was a proposal to revive the Ruihhlo Do Core Committee to counter the drug menace prevalent in Mizoram.
