Hannan Mia, a notorious criminal wanted by the National Investigation Agency or NIA, was successfully taken into custody by a 3-member special team. They are currently on their way to Guwahati from Tripura to present him before the NIA special court on Monday.
This significant achievement follows a special operation led by Officer-in-Charge of Bishalgarh Police Station, Rana Chatterjee, who led the mission to apprehend Mia on Sunday.
Rana Chatterjee shed light on Mia’s status as one of the NIA’s most wanted criminals.
“Hannan Mia was subject to Rs 1 lakh cash reward announced by the NIA. Acting on credible intelligence, we conducted a meticulously planned operation resulting in his arrest. Our investigation revealed his involvement in international human trafficking, particularly exploiting teenage girls for prostitution rings and engaging in forgery of Indian documents, among other illicit activities. Although the NIA had initiated their own operation to detain him, they later sought our collaboration. Together, we successfully executed the operation and apprehended him,” Chatterjee explained.
Following Mia’s arrest, Tripura Police promptly informed the NIA, leading to the dispatch of a 3-member team from Guwahati, Assam. Mia was then presented before the court, where a 4-day transit remand was secured to facilitate his appearance before the special NIA court.
“Currently, the NIA officials are escorting Hannan Mia to Guwahati from Agartala. He will be presented before the special NIA court,” Chatterjee added, highlighting the ongoing efforts to ensure justice in the case.
