Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma delivered a powerful speech, invoking the resilience and valour embedded in the Indian spirit. Addressing a public gathering, he drew parallels between historical figures and contemporary leaders, highlighting the enduring essence of the Indian ethos.
Asserting the importance of one’s homeland, CM Himanta proclaimed, “Many people will come and go… But, this is the land where we are born… Whether I be the Chief Minister or not, no difference will be there… but my land should be Vishwaguru.”
Reflecting on historical narratives, CM Himanta juxtaposed the legacies of figures like Aurangzeb and Lachit Barphukan. He remarked, “In our country, Aurangzeb was also born… but what happened… he is known not for good reasons.”
Further, the Assam CM issued a plea to West Bengal Counterpart, urging her to reconsider her political affiliations and prioritise the nation’s welfare. “I request West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee… you have time till 2 years after the Lok Sabha elections… leave people like Shahjahan Sheikh… people of the country will not be afraid of people like him,” he urged.
Drawing parallels between historical stalwarts and contemporary leaders, CM Himanta asserted, “If Bharat Mata has given birth to people like Shahjahan Sheikh… Bharat Mata has also given birth to people like Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to fight against people like Shahjahan Sheikh.”
