Kabak Yano, a determined mountaineer from Kamle district in Arunachal Pradesh, has etched her name in history by becoming the fifth woman from her State to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Yano achieved this extraordinary feat at approximately 11:50 am on Tuesday, marking a pivotal moment in her mountaineering career.

Presently, Yano is pursuing her studies at Rashtriya Raksha University’s Pasighat campus. She has an impressive background in mountaineering, having completed the Basic Mountaineering Course at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) in Darjeeling. Her advanced training includes an advanced mountaineering course and a search and rescue course from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) in Dirang, West Kameng. Besides her mountaineering pursuits, Yano is also an active member of the State’s women’s cricket team.
Her ascent to the Everest summit follows the inspiring paths of four other Arunachalee women – Tine Mena, Anshu Jamsenpa, Muri Linngi and Tashi Yangjom – who have conquered the world’s highest peak. Yano’s remarkable journey and her indomitable spirit serve as a beacon of inspiration, not only to the people of Arunachal Pradesh but to aspiring mountaineers everywhere.
