In a significant development, the National Investigation Agency or NIA apprehended a software engineer from Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district in connection with the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case that shook Bengaluru earlier this year.
The NIA’s operation took place at the residence of a retired headmaster, Abdul Gaffoor, in Nagulabavi area, Rayadurgam town in the early hours of Tuesday. Acting on specific intelligence suggesting the presence of a terror suspect linked to the March 1 blast at Rameshwaram Cafe, NIA officials conducted searches and took Gaffoor’s son, Sohail, into custody for interrogation.
Sohail, a young man employed at a software company in Bengaluru along with his elder brother, came under scrutiny after the NIA discovered substantial transactions in his bank account during their investigation into the Rameshwaram Cafe blast incident, which left 10 individuals injured.
The NIA, which had previously arrested two suspects from West Bengal in connection with the blast, is intensifying its efforts to uncover the full extent of the plot and bring all perpetrators to justice.
Following his arrest, Sohail was taken to the Rayadurgam police station under tight security and subsequently transferred to Bengaluru after initial questioning. Authorities provided Gaffoor and his family with written notification regarding Sohail’s arrest, ensuring transparency in the legal process.
