In a notable boost for Assam’s agriculture sector, farmers from the Bokakhat constituency have achieved a significant milestone in pumpkin production. Last year, the farmers sent Rs 2 crore worth of pumpkins to markets in other states. This year, they have outdone themselves, sending Rs 5.24 crore worth of pumpkins, with more produce yet to be shipped.

The success extends beyond Bokakhat, as farmers from Kuruabahi Gaon Panchayat, Madhya Mohura, and Dichai Gaon Panchayats have also participated in pumpkin cultivation. Agriculture Minister Atul Bora expressed confidence that the production targets set by the government would be met soon, thanks to the collective efforts of these farming communities.
