Arunachal Pradesh’s sports scene witnessed a historic moment as Tamo Moko, 13 years’ old boy hailing from Lower Subansiri district, secured a remarkable victory at the 4th MMA and Striking MMA Championships-2024 held in Calicut, Kerala. Competing in the fiercely contested 51kg weight category, Moko displayed exceptional skill and determination, ultimately clinching the gold medal.
Despite his young age, Moko’s performance showcased his immense talent and potential, potentially making him the youngest MMA fighter from the state to achieve such a milestone. His victory not only highlights his personal achievement but also reflects the growing prominence of Arunachal Pradesh in the field of mixed martial arts.
A student of Class 8 at Government TPD Middle School in Ziro, Moko’s dedication and hard work have been lauded by both State officials and local communities.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his delight at Moko’s achievement, describing it as “remarkable” and a source of pride for the State. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein extended his congratulations to Moko, recognising his dedication and hard work that led to this significant victory.
The Apatani Students’ Union joined in congratulating Moko, emphasising the inspiration his victory provides to aspiring athletes across Arunachal Pradesh. Moko’s success serves as a testament to the untapped potential and talent present in the youth of the region, signalling a promising future for sports in Arunachal Pradesh.
