Classic Football Academy, representing Manipur, clinched the AIFF U17 Elite Youth League 2023-24 title after defeating Sudeva Delhi FC with a score of 2-1 at Nagoa Panchayat Ground in Goa.
In a match filled with vibrant attacking football, both teams showcased their prowess on the well-maintained Nagoa pitch. Classic Football Academy emerged as the dominant force, securing a well-deserved victory despite Sudeva Delhi FC posing considerable challenges throughout the game.
The deadlock of the first half was broken in the 49th minute when Ningthoukhongjam Rishi of Classic headed in a corner to put his team in the lead. The momentum continued for Classic as Ahongshangbam Samson added another goal in the 56th minute with a header from a corner.
Sudeva Delhi FC fought back in the 60th minute, with substitute Gaurav Kumar finding the net with a header from a cross delivered by Ginminhao Khongsai.
However, Classic Football Academy’s sturdy defence held firm against Sudeva’s attempts to equalize, with goalkeeper Junaid Hamid making crucial saves. Despite Sudeva’s efforts, Classic maintained their lead until the final whistle, securing their victory.
