Gautam Gambhir, a key figure behind Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, has become a sensation on the internet following his inspirational social media post. Gambhir, whose strategic leadership and infectious energy have been pivotal for KKR, shared a Hindi post on X that has captivated the cricketing world.
“Whose thoughts and actions are of truth, even today Lord Krishna drives his chariot,” Gambhir wrote, celebrating KKR’s triumphant end to their 10-year title drought. The post has quickly gone viral, earning widespread admiration.
Gambhir, who previously captained KKR to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014, returned as the team’s mentor this season. His return was marked by a promise to bring the trophy back to Kolkata, a promise he fulfilled as KKR clinched their third IPL title.
Speaking to the broadcaster after the match, KKR vice-captain Nitish Rana highlighted Gambhir’s influence on the team’s success. “When GG bhaiya was named the mentor, I sent him a long message as I was really happy. But he replied saying, ‘Thank you but I would be happy if we stand at the podium with the trophy in our hands.’ Today is that day and I will never forget that message,” Rana shared.
Rinku Singh, another KKR standout, also praised Gambhir in his post-match interview. “Outstanding feeling right now. My dream of seven years is complete. Finally, I will lift the trophy. I am proud of my whole team and GG sir. It was God’s plan,” Singh said.
