In a groundbreaking initiative to integrate artificial intelligence or AI into the educational field, Royal Global School has introduced ‘Iris,’ the first AI teacher in Guwahati. Dressed in traditional attire, Iris captivated students with her knowledge and interactive capabilities, transforming the classroom experience.
Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika praised the innovation on X, stating, “It’s remarkable! With the introduction of AI teacher, the education scenario will get upgraded and enhanced to a great extent.”
During the inaugural session, students were thrilled by Iris’s engaging teaching style. A question about haemoglobin led to an animated discussion, with Iris providing detailed explanations, examples, and references. Whether addressing syllabus-related queries or broader topics, Iris impressed with her swift, accurate, and comprehensive responses. Students particularly enjoyed Iris’s ability to perform gestures like handshakes, adding a personal touch to the learning experience and fostering a sense of connection in the classroom.
Equipped with a voice-controlled assistant, Iris can respond to student inquiries and deliver tailored explanations to meet individual learning needs. Teachers at Royal Global School observed the students’ excitement and enthusiasm, noting Iris’s role as a knowledgeable and accessible ‘teacher’ who consistently provides insightful answers.
Developed in collaboration with Makerlabs Edu-tech under the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) project initiated by NITI Aayog, Iris signifies a major leap in AI integration within education. This innovative initiative highlights Royal Global School’s commitment to offering a holistic and technologically advanced education to students in the region.
