In the midst of Manipur’s devastating floods, the Assam Rifles have become beacons of hope. Their tireless efforts have saved over 600 people, including a one-month-old baby and his mother.
Commending the rescue teams, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated, “I appreciate the teams of the NDRF, Indian Army and Assam Rifles for supporting the local authorities in carrying out the rescue operations and saving precious lives at various flood areas of the State. As many as 40 personnel of the NDRF and 6 additional motorboats have also arrived in Imphal. I urge all to extend cooperation to the rescue teams as they perform their duties to ensure everyone’s safety.”
On one particular mission, the Assam Rifles swiftly evacuated 42 people from a heavily flooded area. They ensured medical attention was provided by a dedicated doctor at the Bishop House Mantripukri after transporting the rescued individuals in Assam Rifles vehicles.
Witnessing the Assam Rifles’ rescue efforts at Mother Theresa Home, they further assisted nearby residents. A mother and her one-month-old baby were trapped due to the continuous rain and flooding. Responding to the sister’s request, the Assam Rifles promptly reached their doorstep with a boat and carried out a swift rescue. In total, they rescued 52 civilians from the location before temporarily pausing the mission.
