In a significant move to enhance healthcare infrastructure, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced plans to establish Ayurvedic and Homeopathy medical colleges in the State. The announcement was made during his visit to the Ayurvedic Hospital at Paradise Chowmuhani in Agartala.
“There are plans to explore the possibility of an Ayurvedic Medical College here in Agartala. Our secretary has given a letter, and we are looking into it,” CM Saha stated, highlighting the government’s commitment to expanding healthcare options in Tripura.
During his visit, CM Saha engaged with doctors and patients at the Ayurvedic Hospital to assess the current healthcare facilities. He acknowledged the historical significance of the hospital and the community’s high expectations for its services.
“The Ayurvedic hospital itself has a long history. People have high expectations for the hospital. There are 50 beds here but more patients are coming. I came to see the overall situation to consider what can be done with the old building,” he noted.
CM Saha also revealed plans for a Homeopathic Medical College in Renter’s Colony, further highlighting the State’s dedication to broadening its healthcare offerings.
In recent years, the Ministry of AYUSH has taken numerous initiatives to promote traditional medicine systems like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy across India, aligning with Tripura’s new healthcare plans.
