In preparation for the Ambubachi Mela 2024, which annually draws millions of devotees to the Maa Kamakhya Temple, the Assam Government has announced the suspension of VIP passes for Maa Kamakhya Darshan and car passes from June 21 to June 30.
This decision, conveyed through a notification from the District Commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan District, aims to effectively manage the large number of devotees expected during this significant religious event. The Ambubachi Mela is renowned for its spiritual significance and cultural fervour, attracting pilgrims from across the country.
District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, IAS, asserted that this measure is intended to ensure the smooth facilitation of devotees and effective crowd management during the Ambubachi Mela period. All relevant departments, organisations, and agencies have been instructed to adhere to this directive to maintain order and safety throughout the event.
