Bharat reiterated its firm support for a high-level US Congressional delegation’s visit to Bharat, where they engaged with Tibet’s spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarified that “Dalai Lama is a revered religious leader and enjoys deep respect from the people of India. His Holiness is granted due courtesies and the freedom to conduct his religious and spiritual activities.” These statements from New Delhi were made amidst escalating tensions with China following the US delegation’s visit to Dharamsala.
