Jagat Prakash Nadda, the national president of the BJP, has been appointed as the new Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, replacing Union Minister Piyush Goyal. Goyal, who previously held the position, has transitioned to representing the North Mumbai constituency in the 18th Lok Sabha.
Nadda’s appointment follows his uncontested election to the Rajya Sabha earlier this year, alongside three other BJP nominees: Ashwini Vaishnaw, L Murugan, and Sudhanshu Trivedi, who were re-elected for a second term.
Currently, Mallikarjun Kharge serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
In addition to his new role as Leader of the House, Nadda has been assigned the Health and Family Welfare Ministry in the new NDA Government. Notably, eleven members of the Upper House also hold positions in the Union Council of Ministers.
