The Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps recently held a notable motorcycle expedition covering North Bengal and Sikkim from June 18 to 24, featuring a group of women riders from the Iron Horses Academy in New Delhi. This expedition not only aimed to showcase women empowerment but also paid homage to Indian Army heroes at various War Memorials along the route.
Led by the spirit of adventure and camaraderie, the expedition traversed the breathtaking hills of Sikkim, including stops at Nathu La and New Baba Mandir, where the team conducted homage ceremonies at the Ganju Lama War Memorial. The journey culminated in Gangtok, where participants engaged with Girls NCC cadets from the 3 NCC Battalion over tea and discussions.
Exploring the diverse terrains of East Sikkim, the expedition highlighted the potential of border area tourism while highlighting the resilience and capability of women riders.
Continuing their journey into North Bengal’s challenging Dooars region, the team rode to the Indo-Bhutan border, interacting with local women and NCC girl cadets. At the Damdim War Memorial, they paid tribute and organised a workshop on ‘Safe Riding of Two Wheelers’ to promote road safety awareness.
The expedition concluded triumphantly at Sukna on June 24, marking a successful initiative by the Trishakti Corps to empower women and inspire inclusive futures, particularly among the young girls of border regions.
