Madhusmita Lagashu, a resident of Dhemaji, has earned a coveted spot on the Indian National Women’s Handball team for the upcoming Indo-Bangladesh Handball Championship 2024 in Dhaka.
Currently in her final year at Lakhimpur Girls’ College, Madhusmita’s selection is a testament to her dedication and skill in the sport.
Assam’s Education Minister Ranoj Pegu took to social media to extend his congratulations, stating, “Heartiest congratulations to Madhusmita Lagashu from Dhemaji for her selection in the Indian National Women’s Handball team. Best wishes for her future endeavors.”
In a similar achievement last year, three handball players from Golakanj town in Assam clinched three gold medals each at international competitions held in Nepal.
Debjit Kumar Roy, Jyoti Bikash Rai, and Chanakya Roy, all from Golakanj, have been actively participating in handball tournaments for several years.
