Kangana Ranaut-starrer ‘Emergency’will hit the theatres worldwide on September 6. Taking to her Instagram, the actor-turned-politician and Mandi MP shared a new poster of the film in which she portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
It features Kangana as Indira Gandhi, looking away from the camera, with the caption, “The Beginning of the 50th Year of Independent India’s Darkest Chapter, Announcing KanganaRanaut’s Emergency In Cinemas on 6th September 2024.”
The post further highlights, “The Explosive Saga of The Most Controversial Episode of The History of Indian Democracy, Emergency On September 6 in cinemas worldwide.”
Initially slated for release on November 24, 2023, the film’s launch was postponed due to the 18th Lok Sabha Elections. ‘Emergency’ is a political drama produced under Manikarnika Films Production, with Kangana serving as the lead actor, writer, director, and producer.
The announcement coincides with the 49th anniversary of the imposition of the Emergency in Bharat on June 25, 1975, a pivotal moment in the country’s political history. The film’s storyline revolves around this significant event.
The cast includes notable actors such as Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and late Satish Kaushik. The screenplay and dialogues are penned by Ritesh Shah, while Renu Pitti co-produces alongside Kangana.
Reflecting on the film, Kangana stated, “Emergency is one of the most significant and darkest chapters in our history that young Bharat needs to know. It is a crucial story, and I want to thank my super-talented actors like late Satish, Anupam, Shreyas, Mahima, and Milind for embarking on this creative journey together.
