A Sharda Devi, the BJP’s Manipur president, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to address the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur. During their discussion, Devi emphasised the critical need for a lasting solution and peace in the state.

Devi stated, “I discussed the current situation in Manipur with Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah. We emphasised the urgency of addressing the aspirations of the people and achieving lasting peace in the region. I also highlighted the pressing need to resettle internally displaced persons (IDPs) and ensure their smooth rehabilitation.”
She further noted that Shah assured her of the Centre’s understanding of the complex situation and commitment to fulfilling the state’s aspirations.
Ethnic violence between the hills-based Kuki-Zo community and the Imphal Valley-based Meiteis has plagued Manipur since May last year, resulting in over 200 deaths and displacing thousands.
