The Assam Cabinet has unveiled a series of significant decisions aimed at transforming Nalbari district.
As part of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijaan, as many as 347 former OBB teachers in Nalbari will receive essential support, representing a crucial move towards educational reform.
Additionally, four major temples – Billeswar Mandir, Bagheshwari Mandir, Balilecha Kali Mandir, and Hari Mandir – will each receive a ₹3 crore grant to improve infrastructure and boost religious tourism.
The Cabinet has greenlit the construction of a new Convention Centre and Circuit House, aiming to establish Nalbari as a key regional hub. Mahendra Narayan Choudhury Girls’ College will soon offer a Science stream, expanding academic opportunities for local students.
To address infrastructure needs, a new degree college will be established in Barkhetri, and 19 kilometres of embankments will be constructed along the Mora Pagladiya and Burhadia rivers to reduce flood risks.
In healthcare, the Cabinet has approved the construction of a flyover connecting the National Highway to Nalbari Medical College, making patient travel easier. Plans also include a modern Sports Complex in Nalbari and a Skill Centre in Dhamdhama, enhancing local amenities and opportunities.
