Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has commended the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited or NHIDCL for the successful completion of the long-overdue 2-lane road with paved shoulders on the Tamenglong-Tousem-Lisang-Mahur Road (NH-137). This critical infrastructure project had been neglected for 70 years.
For making this project a reality, CM Biren expressed gratitude through the microblogging site X and expressed, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and the dedicated team at NHIDCL for their commitment and support in enhancing the connectivity in the State.”

He highlighted the significance of this achievement, stating, “The construction of a 2-lane road with paved shoulders for the Tamenglong-Tousem-Lisang-Mahur Road (NH-137), stretching from km 10 near Dialong Village to km 31 near Barak River, marks the end of a 70-year period of neglect.”
The CM highlighted the completion of important bridges on the Imphal-Jiribam highway, including the Makru, Irang, and Barak bridges, in recent years.
Earlier, NHIDCL had shared updates on the project, stating on X, “We build, you drive, together we thrive. NHIDCL is sincerely completing the construction of a 2-lane road with paved shoulders from Tamenglong-Tousem-Lisang-Mahur Road (NH-137), starting near Dialong Village at km 10 and ending near Barak River at km 31 under package-2 in Manipur.”
