West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has taken legal action against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, filing a defamation case following her recent comments about incidents at the Raj Bhavan. Governor Bose approached the Calcutta High Court with the suit, just a day after Banerjee’s remarks, on June 28.
CM Banerjee had stated that women had expressed fears about visiting the Raj Bhavan due to alleged activities there. This statement came in the wake of a serious accusation of molestation against Governor Ananda Bose by a contractual employee, which has prompted an investigation by the Kolkata Police.
In addition to the defamation suit against Banerjee, Governor Bose has filed similar suits against several Trinamool Congress (TMC) members for making related remarks.
An insider mentioned, “Governor CV Ananda Bose on Friday moved the Calcutta High Court and filed a defamation suit against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party leaders for their comments.”
During an administrative meeting held at the State secretariat, Banerjee asserted, “Women have informed me that they are afraid to visit the Raj Bhavan due to recent incidents reported there.”
