Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora took proactive steps towards advancing agricultural development in the State by meeting with Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi.
The high-level meeting, part of Statewise consultations, focused on addressing critical challenges and opportunities in Assam’s agricultural sector.

Bora stressed on the urgent need to strengthen agricultural infrastructure, particularly in enhancing post-harvest management capabilities. He advocated for the establishment of essential facilities such as dry storage, cold storage, and processing units to minimise post-harvest losses and promote sustainable agricultural practices Statewide.
Highlighting the potential of natural farming methods, Minister Bora aligned Assam’s initiatives with the Central Government’s efforts to promote eco-friendly agricultural practices.
This proactive approach aims to leverage national support frameworks, including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY).
The meeting, attended by senior officials from both Union and State agricultural departments, concluded with a commitment to enhance collaboration and synergy between Central and State efforts. This collaborative approach seeks to empower farmers in Assam with comprehensive support and resources for sustainable agricultural development.
