Prime Minister Narendra Modi accentuated the historic significance of securing a third consecutive term in office during his response to a two-day debate on the President’s address in Parliament. Despite vocal opposition protests, the PM highlighted the people’s confidence in his leadership and government policies as evidenced by the recent election mandate.
“The people of the country have given us this mandate after testing us on every criterion. The people have seen our track record of 10 years,” mentioned the PM in Lok Sabha amid vociferous protests by Opposition members.
“People have chosen us in this biggest election exercise. I can understand the pain of some people that despite running falsehoods they were comprehensively defeated,” he said as the Opposition MPs chanted the “justice for Manipur” slogan.
Emphasising his administration’s commitment to fighting corruption, PM Modi recalled the promise of zero tolerance towards corruption upon assuming office. “Corruption once plagued our nation like termites. The public has endorsed our unwavering stance against corruption,” he affirmed.
Highlighting the government’s guiding principles, PM Modi reiterated, “Nation First, India First governs every policy and decision we make.” He contrasted this approach with what he termed as past appeasement-based politics and governance.
“Over the past decade, we have pursued Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas. Our governance stands against appeasement and favours a policy of satisfaction santushtikaran,” he stated firmly.
Amidst continued disruptions from the Opposition benches, PM Modi concluded, “Our focus remains justice for all, appeasement for none.”
The Prime Minister’s speech faced interruptions from Opposition MPs, who raised various slogans throughout his address in the House.
