After a rigorous audition at Niathu Resort, Ruopfuzhano Whiso has been selected to represent Nagaland in the upcoming Miss Universe India pageant. The decision was announced following a competitive contest where 19 contestants vied for the prestigious title on Tuesday.
Whiso, renowned for her previous achievements including Femina Miss India Nagaland 2018 and Miss Kohima 2017 first runner-up, emerged as the frontrunner during the selection process. Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland or BASN president Mele Pucho underlined the importance of choosing the right candidate to showcase the State on a national stage.
Starting this year, Nagaland introduced a direct selection process ensuring representation at the Miss Universe India pageant in September. Pucho expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic participation across Nagaland, marking the inaugural Miss Universe Nagaland title contest.
Operations & Marketing for Miss Universe India Director Amjad Khan highlighted the Glamanand Group’s initiative to conduct auditions across 28 cities and Union territories, promoting inclusivity and minimising travel costs for contestants.
The national pageant is scheduled to begin in the third week of August, culminating by September 10 to determine Bharat’s delegate for the Miss Universe competition in November, to be held in Mexico.
Asmita Chakraborty, Miss Tourism India 2023, elaborated on the rigorous audition criteria, accentuating the significance of communication skills, stage presence, and adept handling of questions. These attributes are crucial for contestants aiming to champion global issues and excel on international platforms.
