Padma Bhushan awardee and award-winning composer AR Rahman’s documentary is slated to premiere at the Indian Film Festival Melbourne-IFFM 2024. Following its debut at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, where it garnered significant anticipation, the film will now vie for the prestigious Best Documentary Film Award at IFFM.
Directed by Rohit Gupta and produced by Rahman, the documentary titled ‘Nagaland’s Musical Heritage’ is set to make its global debut at IFFM 2024. Rahman had previously unveiled the film at Cannes Film Festival two months earlier.
The documentary film, exploring the captivating evolution of rhythm and sound across generations, will contend for the Best Documentary Film award at IFFM. This year, IFFM celebrates its 15th anniversary and will be held from August 15 to 25.
The documentary promises to take audiences on an immersive and enlightening musical anthropological odyssey, tracing the evolution of music in Nagaland from ancient traditions of headhunting tribes to the State’s modern musical renaissance.
AR Rahman expressed that the film holds special significance for him as it showcases the rich cultural and musical history of Nagaland. He eagerly anticipates presenting it to the Melbourne audience.
