An incredible moment unfolded, as the Indian cricket team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi around 11 am at the latter’s residence with their ICC T20 World Cup trophy. PM Modi refrained from touching the T20 World Cup trophy, choosing instead to hold the hands of captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid.
Dravid and Rohit held the trophy with one hand each, while PM Modi held their hands as they posed for pictures. This respectful gesture by PM Modi has gone viral on social media.
Trophies or medals won by teams or individuals are traditionally only touched by those who have earned them. PM Modi’s act has been widely praised on social media for its thoughtfulness.
PM Modi was also presented with a NaMo jersey by the Indian team as a gift.

During the meet-and-greet session, which lasted over an hour, PM Modi engaged with several players on numerous aspects of the exciting final.
He asked Rohit Sharma about his unusual celebration of tasting the turf after the victory, querying, “How does the mud taste?”
PM Modi inquired with Virat Kohli, who had struggled for runs before the final, about his thoughts and mindset heading into the crucial match.
Additionally, Axar Patel was questioned about his feelings when he was promoted up the batting order during a critical moment in the final.
After their meeting with PM Modi, the team proceeded to the Delhi airport for their flight to Mumbai, where an elaborate victory parade awaits them at Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium.
Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik said India captain Rohit Sharma, along with Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, is scheduled to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at the Assembly on Friday.
“The program in Mumbai is organised by BCCI. Team India players from Mumbai, including Captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, will visit the Maharashtra Assembly tomorrow to meet CM Eknath Shinde. As a member of MCA, I extended the invitation to the players, and they graciously accepted,” stated Sarnaik.
The public will have free entry to witness the Indian team’s grand victory parade celebrating their World Cup win, declared Mumbai Cricket Association or MCA Secretary Ajinkya Naik.
MCA member Jitendra Awhad expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s a fantastic feeling. After a long wait, India has won the World Cup, and now they are being welcomed to the home of cricket, Mumbai. Cricket isn’t just a sport here; it’s a religion across Bharat.”
