Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended heartfelt greetings to the Apatani community on the auspicious occasion of the Dree festival. The festival, which commenced today, marks the beginning of the agricultural season and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour.
In his message, CM Khandu expressed his warm wishes, stating, “Heartiest greetings and wishes of Dree festival to my dear brothers and sisters of Apatani community. This vibrant and culturally rich event marks the onset of the farming season. Dree festival is not only a celebration of agriculture but also a showcase of our State’s rich heritage and traditions.”
The Dree festival, an annual agricultural celebration observed by the Apatani tribe, is held on July 5 in the scenic Ziro valley of Lower Subansiri District. Festivities center around the Nago Putu Dree Ground, where community members gather to celebrate prosperity, happiness, and a bountiful harvest season. The festival also highlights the tribe’s traditional farming practices, emphasising sustainable methods such as dual cultivation of paddy and fish.
