During a live session on Facebook, CM Sarma accentuated the critical need for riverbank protection, citing recent collapses in Jugunidhari and Mahmora that have severely affected local communities.
From the Bogibeel Bridge, CM Himanta detailed his inspections in flood-affected regions like Majuli and Dibrugarh, where he interacted with locals and assessed the damage firsthand. He highlighted discussions with community leaders on adopting scientific methods for rebuilding riverbanks, ensuring resilience against future flooding.

In Jugunidhari, where immediate action was required due to a riverbank collapse, the Water Resources Department has commenced fortification work expected to complete within seven days, contingent on favourable weather conditions. CM Himanta assured ongoing vigilance and support for flood-hit areas, underscoring the government’s commitment to swift relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Tonight, the CM will oversee relief operations in Dibrugarh and plans to visit further affected areas tomorrow, reaffirming the government’s proactive stance in managing flood-related challenges across Assam.
