Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Keir Starmer following his victory in the UK elections, expressing eagerness to collaborate with the new Labour leader. Modi also conveyed a message of appreciation to outgoing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Starmer is set to succeed Sunak as UK Prime Minister after the Labour Party triumphed over the Conservatives in the recent elections.
“Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Keir Starmer on the remarkable victory in the UK general elections. I look forward to our positive and constructive collaboration to further strengthen the Bharat-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in all areas, fostering mutual growth and prosperity,” PM Modi shared on X.
In his message to Sunak, Modi expressed gratitude for his leadership and efforts in enhancing Bharat-UK relations.
“Thank you Rishi Sunak for your admirable leadership of the UK, and your active contribution to deepen the ties between Bharat and the UK during your term in office. Best wishes to you and your family for the future,” PM Modi said.
The Labour Party, which has been out of power for over a decade, secured over 326 seats in the House of Commons, ensuring a change in government.
Starmer will officially take over as Prime Minister on Friday, concluding the Conservatives’ 14-year tenure in power.
