Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta conducted an inspection of National Highway 415 (NH-415) in response to the heightened risk of landslides and mudslides due to continuous rainfall. Manpower and machinery were swiftly deployed to address the situation.
The Highway Department has been instructed to maintain readiness, with personnel and equipment on standby. During her visit to the Karsingsa Block point, where a significant landslide had occurred, the DC issued a traffic advisory closing the road and redirecting traffic through an alternative route via Gumto until further notice.
Mehta also inspected the blocked section at 6 Kilo, where debris had accumulated, and facilitated the clearing operations. Additionally, the department was directed to promptly remove blockades in the Lekhi area.
The DC visited the State highway from Ganga Lake to Batt village, an area affected by multiple landslides. The PWD department is actively working with men and machinery to clear debris and blockades. Although traffic is moving through this route, the DC has mandated continuous monitoring and clearance efforts, with machinery stationed onsite.
Along the same route, the installation of an alternate water supply pipeline to Itanagar township is ongoing, alongside road maintenance efforts. The DC also assessed the condition of the alternate PMGSY road through Ganga Batt and directed necessary maintenance.
Highlighting the diligent efforts of all stakeholders, the DC highlighted the presence of the electrical department, which is engaged in restoration work. Residents are urged to exercise caution while travelling on these roads and to avoid unnecessary travel.
