In a heartfelt gesture to honour His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 89th birthday, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced that tree saplings were planted at Urgelling, the sacred birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama.
“These saplings symbolise our commitment to His Holiness’s enduring message of peace, compassion, and environmental stewardship,” wrote CM Khandu on X.

He underlined that the trees planted at this significant location stand as a tribute to the Dalai Lama’s timeless wisdom and profound impact on lives around the world. “May these trees grow strong and stand as a testament to the timeless wisdom and profound impact of His Holiness on our lives and the world,” he added.
The initiative reflects the State’s dedication to promoting environmental conservation and honouring the spiritual legacy of the Dalai Lama, highlighting the intertwining of nature, spirituality, and cultural heritage in Arunachal Pradesh.
