Assam-born director and producer Shiladitya Bora has announced that actor Huma Qureshi will be joining the cast of the upcoming investigative police procedural drama “Bayaan.” The film, developed at Film Independent in Los Angeles, will be directed by Bikas Mishra, renowned for his acclaimed feature “Chauranga.”
Set against the scenic backdrop of Rajasthan, “Bayaan” follows Roohi, a female detective, as she takes on her first major case in a small town. The story revolves around Roohi’s struggle to challenge an entrenched adversary while upholding her father’s legendary law enforcement legacy. Alongside Qureshi, the film stars Chandrachur Singh and Sachin Khedekar and is set to begin production this month.
“Bayaan” has garnered international support, receiving backing from the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund and development assistance from Film Independent’s Global Media Makers program. The project has been praised for its passionate director-producer duo and their dedication to filmmaking.
Huma Qureshi expressed her enthusiasm for the film, highlighting the compelling script, talented crew, and the team’s unwavering commitment. Director Bikas Mishra shared his gratitude for the support received, aiming to create a film with global resonance. Producer Shiladitya Bora asserted that “Bayaan” aligns with his vision of producing groundbreaking cinema, with Huma’s involvement reaffirming this ambition.
The film boasts a distinguished crew, including Berlinale Talents alumni. Key roles feature Udit Khurana as the cinematographer, Vinay Vishwakarma as the production designer, and Shilpi Agarwal as the costume designer. Ashok Sen serves as the First Assistant Director, with Ratan Sil Sarma as the Head of Production and Himanshu Malik as the Executive Producer.
“Bayaan” will also showcase performances by acclaimed actors Avijit Dutt, Shampa Mandal, Priti Shukla, Vibhor Mayank, and Aditi Kanchan Singh, adding further depth to this highly anticipated drama.
