Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed profound sorrow as Avinash Sarkar’s body was identified at Gauhati Medical College Hospital or GMCH. Avinash tragically lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters from a roadside drain in Bamunimaidam last Friday.
CM Himanta took to X to convey his heartfelt condolences, stating, “Deeply pained! With a heavy heart, we have learnt that the child’s body has been found. My deepest sympathies go out to his parents and family during this unimaginable time.” He also praised the relentless efforts of NDRF, SDRF, Police, and District Administration in the search and rescue operations.

Earlier, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had visited the Sarkar family on Saturday to express solidarity and oversee the rescue efforts, reaffirming the government’s unwavering support in the face of adversity caused by the floods.
