Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha will soon discuss the introduction of the Smart City Mission Project 2.0 with senior leaders at the Centre to further development initiatives in the State.
Dr Saha shared this plan after laying foundation stones for the development and beautification of Shiv Bari Pond on Central Road, a lake in Ujan Abhoynagar, and the Veterinary Hospital Lake under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
The state government is taking several steps to beautify various water bodies in Agartala.

“Under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, three ponds in Agartala city will be developed and beautified. We have received 90 per cent of the funds from the Centre and 10 per cent from the State. Similarly, the Smart City Mission project is ongoing, with around Rs 500 crore allocated to our State. This mission has enabled us to achieve significant developments. I will speak with our leaders in Delhi to introduce Smart City 2.0, akin to AMRUT 2.0, so we can continue more development works,” stated Dr Saha.
He further highlighted the positive impression that visitors have of Tripura’s progress.
“Tripura has transformed significantly in terms of law and order and development. Our continuous development efforts align with PM Modi’s emphasis on progress. We must take responsibility for maintaining and beautifying our lakes and ponds. During floods, we face criticism, but we often find large amounts of garbage, bottles, and debris. Everyone must take responsibility. There was a lack of development or maintenance of ponds in and around Agartala earlier. We do not want to politicize development,” added the CM.
