Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has attributed the team’s recent T20 World Cup victory to the leadership and dedication of Captain Rohit Sharma. Following Bharat’s triumph over South Africa in the final, ending an 11-year wait for an ICC trophy, Kuldeep expressed admiration for Rohit’s strategic planning and support for the team.
“This World Cup was for him, the way he planned and the way he loved this team. The intent and approach that he used to talk about in team meetings, he implemented that in the tournament while batting, led from the front. So this trophy is for him,” remarked Kuldeep.
Rohit’s stellar performance throughout the tournament, including a crucial 92 against Australia and a pivotal half-century in the semi-finals against England, earned him praise for his leadership and contributions to Bharat’s victory.
Kuldeep also highlighted the retirements of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja from T20I cricket, acknowledging their immense impact on the team’s success.
Reflecting on the celebrations in Mumbai with fans, Kuldeep expressed his joy at experiencing the euphoria of winning the T20 World Cup and noted the significance of the event for him personally.
Meanwhile, Kuldeep, who played a crucial role in the tournament with 10 wickets in just four matches, has been rested for the ongoing Zimbabwe tour but is expected to return for Bharat’s upcoming series against Sri Lanka, comprising three ODIs and as many T20Is starting July 27.
