Renowned for his integrity, Rahul Dravid has once again set a commendable example by opting to halve his INR 5 crore bonus from the BCCI’s Rs 125 crore T20 World Cup prize pool. This decision aligns his reward with that of the team’s batting, bowling, and fielding coaches, each receiving INR 2.5 crore after Bharat’s victory over South Africa in the final.
According to media report, Dravid requested the BCCI to adjust his bonus to ensure parity with the coaching staff, emphasising fairness in recognition for their collective efforts. A BCCI source affirmed, “Rahul wanted the same bonus money (Rs 2.5 crore) as the rest of his support staff (bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip and batting coach Vikram Rathore). We respect his sentiments.”
This isn’t the first time Dravid has displayed such fairness. As coach of Bharat’s U-19 World Cup-winning team in 2018, he advocated for equal rewards across the coaching staff, leading to a revised distribution where every support member received INR 25 lakh, including Dravid himself.
Throughout his career, Dravid’s altruistic approach has earned him praise, reflecting his commitment to teamwork and integrity both on and off the field.
