The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has called upon the state government to enforce the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Dimapur district and address the issue of clandestine government job appointments.
In a meeting with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the NSF asserted on the critical need for ILP in Dimapur to curb illegal immigration and protect the cultural and demographic integrity of the Naga community.
Highlighting their concerns, the NSF expressed disappointment over the historical ineffectiveness of ILP enforcement despite its significance in safeguarding Naga identity.
The exclusion of Dimapur from the ILP regime, as per the June 2, 2023 suspension order, was cited as a loophole that has facilitated illegal immigration, posing a threat to local interests.
The NSF urged an immediate reversal of the ILP suspension for Dimapur and proposed the establishment of monitoring cells at entry points across all district headquarters to ensure strict enforcement.
Regarding government job appointments, while acknowledging the creation of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) for transparent recruitment, the NSF raised alarms over alleged backdoor appointments persisting in various departments.
Citing findings from their RTI campaign, the federation exposed systemic irregularities that undermine the merit-based recruitment system.
They called upon the Chief Minister to take decisive action against these malpractices to restore integrity to the administrative framework.
