Sikkim is temporarily cut off from the rest of the country as the essential road linking it to Siliguri via Lava is closed for repairs until 6 am on July 14. This closure, announced by the Block Development Officer for Lava Development Block in Algarah, Kalimpong, is due to severe damage to the Algarah-Lava road via Gosklusline.
In a notice issued on July 10, the Block Development Officer declared, “It is hereby notified that the Algarah-Lava road via Gosklusline shall remain closed from 6 am on July 11, until 6 am on July 14, due to maintenance work by the PWD Department.” Consequently, all vehicular movement along this route is suspended during the repair period.
This closure impacts a crucial alternative route connecting Sikkim and Kalimpong to Siliguri, significantly affecting transportation and regional connectivity.
