Manipur’s security forces have successfully recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition from the vulnerable hill and valley districts in a series of intensive operations.
Conducted in the fringe areas of Thamnapat Hills and Pangantabi Chingkha in Kakching District, the operations led to the discovery of various military-grade items.
Among the recovered items were two 81mm mortars with one cover, one H.E 51mm mortar with cover, two 51mm smoke shells, three H.E-36 grenades, one Baofeng handset, two helmets, four BP vests, three camouflage pants, two camouflage shirts, one camouflage T-shirt, one smoke grenade, and four live rounds.
Further operations in Mongbung Village, Jiribam District, resulted in additional significant findings. Security forces recovered one country-made single barrel gun, one 12-bore single barrel gun, 188 assorted live ammunitions, two magazines, one wooden butt, one locally made explosive bomb, seven IED fuses.
Apart from this, two walkie-talkie Baofeng handsets, five walkie-talkie handset chargers, eight mobile handsets, five mobile handset chargers, three mobile handset batteries, three BP jackets, one improvised BP plate, one camouflage Pithu bag, one cartridge belt, one pair of jungle shoes, one pair of slippers, and one sling bag.
