The Arunachal Pradesh Government, with an aim to benefit numerous elderly individuals, widows, and persons with disabilities, has earmarked Rs 150 crore for the Chief Minister’s Social Security Scheme or CMSSS. This move will support various pension initiatives across the State.
Under the scheme, funds will cater to a diverse group of beneficiaries, including 64,096 individuals aged between 60 to 79 years and 3,450 individuals aged 80 and above through the Chief Minister’s Old Age Pension Schemes or CMOAPS. Additionally, 13,209 widows will receive assistance under the CM Widow Pension Schemes (WPS), highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive welfare policies.
Besides, the initiative provides for 6,120 persons with disabilities, who will benefit from the CM Divyangjan Pension, reflecting the State’s efforts to provide financial support to differently-abled individuals.
For the fiscal year 2023-24, a total allocation of Rs 1173.562 lakh has been allotted, including Rs 217.839 lakh to clear pending dues from the previous fiscal year. Phase-I disbursements have already commenced, with Rs 46,62,98,400 distributed across 12 districts. The remaining districts, such as Namsai, East Siang, and Anjaw, will receive funds upon completion of beneficiary data verification.
