In preparation for the Paris Olympics and Paralympic Games, the Sports Ministry’s Mission Olympic Cell-MOC has approved numerous proposals for equipment assistance for athletes and para-athletes. During its weekly meeting, the MOC sanctioned support for various sports equipment requests.
Paralympic table tennis medalist Bhavina Patel received approval for assistance to participate in the ITTF Para Table Tennis Asia Training Camp 2024 in Thailand from July 16 to 20, along with her coach and escort.
Additionally, para shooters Manish Narwal, Rudranksh Khandelwal, Rubina Francis, and Sriharsha R Devareddy were granted approvals for various sport shooting-related equipment.
Specifically, Sriharsha will receive an air rifle, while Rubina will obtain a Morini pistol. Para-athlete Sandeep Choudhary’s request for two javelins (Valhalla 800g Medium NXB and Diana Carbon 600g) was also approved.
Archers Ankita Bhakat and Deepika Kumari, as well as para-archers Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar, secured financial assistance for their equipment needs. Judoka Tulika Maan, along with her coach, received approval to train at the Valencia Judo High Performance Centre in Spain until July 25.
Table tennis player Manush Shah’s proposal for financial assistance to train in Gyeonggi Do, South Korea, under Taejun Kim, and to procure physical fitness equipment was also approved by the MOC.
Furthermore, the MOC approved the inclusion of athletes Suraj Panwar, Vikash Singh, and Ankita Dhyani, along with swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu, into the TOPS Core group. Athletes Jeswin Aldrin, Praveen Chithravel, Akashdeep Singh, and Paramjeet Singh were promoted from the TOPS Development group to the Core Group.
