Union DoNER or Development of the North East Region Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched the North East Region Agri Commodity E-Connect-NERACE.
This initiative aims to benefit farmers in the region and position Northeast Bharat as a hub for high-value horticultural products on the international market. The NERACE app will support a variety of agricultural and horticultural products including spices, fruits, vegetables, pulses, cereals, and minor forest products.
Designed to promote the Northeast as a dependable partner in the global agricultural value chain, the NE-RACE App offers a platform for North East farmers to enhance their reach and impact.
Sharing the news on social media, Scindia wrote, “Digital India for North-East farmers! Delighted to launch NE-RACE App – an online global platform for North East Farmers that will play a pivotal role in positioning the Northeast as a hub of high-value horticultural products. It will make the farmers of the region not just the producers but also a reliable partner in the international agri value chain.”
During his visit, Scindia met with Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to discuss future development plans for Meghalaya. Their discussions focused on the vision of Viksit Purvottar or developed Northeast under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vikshit Bharat resolution.
Scindia highlighted their collaborative efforts in a post, stating, “Today with CM Conrad Sangma held a productive meeting with officials of Meghalaya Government, NEC and MDoNER. Together we strategised on key areas of work and future plans. With a focus on ‘Technology, Environment and Tourism,’ we strive to strengthen regional connectivity, build robust infrastructure, maximise Meghalaya’s competitive and comparative advantages, and drive Meghalaya to a more prosperous era of growth.”
Earlier in the week, Scindia conducted a review meeting to discuss the 100-day action plan for the Department of Posts. Under his leadership, the department aims to transform service delivery and enhance efficiency through key initiatives designed to benefit the nation and its citizens.
According to the Communications Ministry, the Posts department will organise 5,000 Dak Chaupals across the country within 100 days. This initiative seeks to bring essential government and citizen-centric services directly to rural areas, improving accessibility and convenience.
Dak Chaupals will serve as vital links between rural residents and government functions, reducing barriers such as distance and accessibility.
Additionally, the Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra Scheme is set to bolster rural exports by supporting small-scale exporters. This initiative provides essential services including documentation assistance, market information, bar-coded label printing, and paperless customs clearance.
